Comcast - Be Careful!
We received our Comcast bill yesterday and there was an additional charge of $28.53 on it. Naturally I started the research as to why. We did have a service call because one of the TV's digital box signal was blinking in and out. So we called for it to be repaired.
We knew it wasn't the TV so it had to be Comcast's digital box. Sure enough, the tech came out, investigated and found the digital box was faulty and changed it.
I didn't know if this charge was something new (yes, I'm guilty of not reading every single one of the little info sheets they send with your bill) but instinct told me to call them. I explained the problem and told them that it was their faulty digital box that was the problem not something we wanted changed and the cs rep. said okay we'll remove that charge. Simple call saved us $28.53.
If you see charges on your bill that you don't think you should have to pay call and challenge them. You never know it could save you some money.
My motto: You don't ask, you don't get.
" May we never let the things we can’t have or don’t have or shouldn’t have spoil our enjoyment of the things we do have and can have. As we value our happiness, let us not forget it. One of the greatest lessons in life is learning to be happy without the things we cannot or should not have."

I'm glad that worked out, but I'd be half tempted to file a form with the FCC (Federal Communication Commission or something like that...) for having them charge you in the first place. The nerve of these people! Their equipment is faulty and the customer is supposed to pay! Talk about corporate greed!

I have noticed that lots of companies are adding things they shouldn't to the bills. We just had electricity and phone turned on in our name here - it was in FILs name before. The electric bill had a $23 new customer charge on it - BUT I expected that - they told me. The phone bill had a $12.95 s&h fee for a dsl modem - which we didn't need (already have one) and they didn't even tell me about that - they also ahd a wrong monthly price on the DSL - supposed to be $29.95 but they had it as $39.95. I called and they did fix the price and give me a credit for the $12.95 too. I had to mail in some other things to get a "lifeline discount" because we get state assistance, so I hope they fix that soon too.
Always call if you question a charge on the bill - too many people just pay it and go on.

Comcast is NOTORIOUS for this in our area! If they come out and it it a problem with their rental equipment or the wires up to the outside box, then there should be no service charge. For any of the wires, splitters or equipment you own, then there is a service charge. Everytime we've had them out, we end up with a service charge on our bill. And the problem has never been with anything inside the house. We have had problems with the outside lines being overloaded, our modem died, etc.
When they had to replace the modem (that we pay a rental "fee" for every month), they tried to charge me for the modem ($125). I pitched a fit about paying for the modem that we had been paying to rent, when it wasn't our fault that it stopped working (nothing happened to it, we had it on a surge protector, etc.). They finally took the charge off the bill.
You're right to watch them closely!
