Tip: Get cheaper airfare on eBay!
Ok, I haven't been around much and am not even sure where to put this anymore!
But I wanted to come back and share a great tip that occurred to me for getting deals on flights.
Right now it costs me nearly $600 for a round trip to Oregon where my mom lives. Then I thought about those flight coupons that people get when they get bumped off a flight. But I haven't been bumped off ... now where could I get one? ... eBay! I checked there and sure enough people sell their flight coupons (which is not illegal). The ones I've found so far are for round trip anywhere in the U.S. and travel can be booked almost a year in advance, it just has to be booked by a certain date. I've been finding them for $250-320 dollars. That saves me about $300 on a flight!
Sorry if someone else has shared an idea like this; like I said, I haven't been around and catching up on this site is quite time-consuming!

Wow, I never would have thought of that. That's sweet if you can save that much.

I'd be cautious of less than honest sellers though.

Yeah, I only buy from sellers with good reps (as in 100% or near 100% positive feedback and many past transactions)
I just search "flight voucher"
Oh, and definitely call the airline first o make sure what you can get with the voucher (they usually have a name; for US Airways it's "Take Flight" voucher). We did discover that they won't work out for the dates we need on this particular trip, but could work well for a future trip.
Sorry for the long-awaited reply! There is so much going on on this site these days I'm not even sure how to tackle it anymore!Last edited by acidcookie; 10-29-2008 at 12:43 AM.

Oooo! I never even thought of that! I'll be searching! This summer is DH's 10 year high school reunion and I'm not looking forward to paying for the ticket from Frankfurt, Germany to Portland, Oregon!
