Water Spots on Shower doors
We have cloudy glass shower doors from water spots. I have tried lots of things to clean them and it never does a good job. I have tried soft scrub, easy off bam and Mr. Clean magic erasers (which seem to work for everything!) Does anyone have anything that might work? We have been drying the doors now after showers so that it does not get any worse.

My great aunt used to clean them really well and then coat them with vegtable oil. That would keep the build up from hapening in the first place. Sorry I didn't have any advice on the actual problem

Vinegar should do it (1/2 water, 1/2 vinegar either on a rag or sprayed on let set for a few minutes, wipe off). Then coat with an oil.
Be sure not to get oil on the shower floor though

I agree with the vinegar treatment to clear it up. I use Rain X (stuff for car windshields) on my shower doors (they are smooth clear glass, not bumpy) the RainX does need to be reapplied every so often (but not that often) so I just reapply when I first notice some build up.

Use a razor blade at an angle to scrap them off....spray the door with cleaner first....this is really the only way to completely remove it.

a mild abrasive will usually work. Baking soda and vinegar work for me.
I also agree with an occasional treatment with RainX to keep them spot-free for several weeks.

Wow - you guys must have easy water spots! I've used vinegar over and over and can not get the spots off of DBF's doors. I just moved into a new apartment with brand new shower doors and am going to coat them with wax or oil to keep the spots away.
I may have to try the brillo pad - that's one I haven't tried!Stacey

Water spots are caused by the hard water in your area and the ultimate solution is to get a water softener....we didn't do that we got rid of the shower doors and went back to shower curtains.I told Dh I wasn't going to spend my retirement cleaning these F***** doors, they drove me nuts

I cleaned my mils with some vim, and a green scrubby you but them at walmart in the cleaner section, 4 in a pack, the brand name of them is scotch-brite . It took some elbow grease to get it off off, and 2 hours later and her whole bathroom was sparkling.

I use a green scrubbie and a product called "The Works" it is very smelly so be careful if you try it and open the windows. It helps with hard water stains. I leave it sit on the showerdoors for 1-2 mins before I scrub. I have found the product in some dollar stores and Mars. (dollar stores are obviously much more frugal)

Tilex! We have hard water here too and it's near impossible to keep the bath and faucets free from scum, but this stuff really works. You spray it on, let it sit and then it practically wipes off.
I'd never use a brillo or scouring pad on the tub, because over time it can scratch the enamel or glass surfaces. The cheap pads are especially bad about this. The previous homeowners cleaned the tub this way and it shows.
