    Default Another way to save

In the past few weeks, a coffee pot still under warranty quit working, and I had a bag of sunflower seeds with grit in them. I emailed the company about returning the pot and was told to cut the cord off and send it in with a check for $7.50 for shipping of the new pot.I told them NO Way, that' I'd just tell eveyone not to buy their coffee pots. She told me to just send the pot in and that I would not have to pay the $7.50 "shipping" fee. I emailed the company about the grit in the sunflower seeds and got a coupon for a free any size bag and an apology from the company.
We don't have to take stuff "lying down." Talk to the company most will make things right, saving you money.

Always let companies know if you are happy or unhappy with them. I have contacted companies and told them that their product was great or give them an idea for a new product and sometimes they have sent cents off or even FREE coupons.

I contact companies any time I feel I haven't received what I paid for. I get many coupons which end up paying for the cruddy experience and am usually happy with the products.

I contacted our local grocery store chain about a bad experience with their Chinese Take Out section. I got a $25 gift certificate in the mail. The food in question only cost $7. I think it was worth my time!

what did it cost to ship the pot back, though?
if less than $7.50, way to go.

I totally agree with you on contacting the companies. I bought some Hanes undies and there were 3 in the pack and each one was a different size. I called and they sent me a new pack. The lady asked me what country they were made in. On the back of the package it tells you where it is made. They have several countries that their undies are made in. It only takes a few minutes of your time to call and usually you end up with a better deal.

I tried the old "more flies with honey than vinegar" approach with a fast food chain recently. No names - it was a freak incident and I don't want to turn anyone off them. I found a smallish live worm in a salad. When tons of lettuce are processed, one is bound to sneak through occasionally. I e-mailed them, told them what happened, but under the guise of complimenting their staff on handling it in a very low key, professional way - which they did and I appreciated. I have no taste for making scenes. Of course, I got a refund for the salad.

I had a phone call the next day asking if I was all right, but not a hint of even a measly coupons which rather annoyed me (hey, I was nice about this!) but then I got a $25 gift card in the mail. So I made a nice little profit on that fast food trip!

Also take time to let companies know , when an item or service was exceptionally great for you. Many times you will receive coupons for positive reviews. Accentuate the positives !!!!

I agree with CoCo. I will always point out a bad experience, but I think you also have to compliment good service also. Too many people will only say something when there is a problem. Most companies value feedback.
