Denture adhesive?
Okay, I've been cruising through the forums for about 4 hours now and have found ALL sorts of great tips, tricks, and recipes. Alot of things I would never have even thought of. So...... I thought I would throw down a challenge. Does anyone have any homemade recipes for a denture adhesive? Is it even possible?
Thanks and God bless!

Peanut butter, and NO I am not kidding!
VERY Little, but it does the trick in a pinch according to my neighbor!
I keep my denture in 24/7 (except when I clean it 3-4 times a day) Otherwise it is in, and my neighbor takes his out ALL the time so my gums are forced to the shape of the denture and I have never had to use adhesive! His are not so he has to have his dentures realigned alot!

Scottrod, here is your answer to homemade denture retention:
Take a small ball of "Dubble Bubble" bubble gum, about the size of a large English pea, stretch it out to the curvature of the denture (lower denture) and position in the denture and then bite down on the gum to make an impression. Now you have a temporary reline in your denture. After you have chewed around on the denture for a minute or so, remove the denture and use any denture adhesive.
This will mix with the gum and will hold your denture in place longer than any "store bought" adhesive that I have found...about 4-5 hours.
Now how do you get all this mess out of your denture...just use a larger ball of gum, roll it over the retention material and the two will join and you can discard it all in the trash. Normal cleansing of the denture will finish the job.

This is such a great idea! I've been looking for some alternatives since I found out poligrip could cause neuropathy when I saw there was a lawsuit against them pending.
