    Default Frugal Tires

I just got 4 new tires put on my car today.
I drive a 2001 Dodge Intrepid. Big 16 inch wide tires.Generally one tire cost me close to $100, until I discovered a place called Cohen tire here in PA.

They sell recaps as well as new tires. This is the second time I have gone down there to get a set of recaps put on the car. The last time I only replaced two. and it cost me abut $89. That was 3 years ago. I average about 12,000 miles a year.

So today I went down there and got 4 new recaps put on in anticipation of the big snowstorm we are expecting tonight. 4 tires, mounted balanced and with disposal. $187.

looking on line the closest new tire to this mileage rating would cost me $20 more per tire plus mounting balancing and disposal.

So I saved at least $100.

It pays to look for a recap place in your area. If you are a normal average driver.

Way to go, its such a nice feeling to get something you really need at a good price. Tires are always such a costly investment, glad you got them before the storm!

I'll have to look and see if I can find one in our area. I just priced out new tires for our truck on Thursday and the cheapest I could find was $642 for 4 tires. I'd love to find a better deal than that! I don't even mind driving a ways if it'll save me a bundle!

Would you believe the snow storm missed my area? Ugh they are having a beautiful heavy snow fall about 100 miles north of me. It's freezing rain and sleet here.

Yeah I had no idea abut recaps until someone let me in on the secret three years ago. I had stressed about affording tires and now it's no biggie. My tires were getting pretty worn and it was a race against the weather to get to the point I could afford tires.

Now the car is paid off things will be a bit easier.
