Default Need Tips on How to Rid Yellow Stains from White Dress Shirts...

Hi. Just wondering if anyone has frugal tips on how to get the yellow sweat stains out of the collar of white dress shirts. Any and all tips would be greatly appreciated.

This worked pretty well on my dh's white shirts when he worked in them.....

Take a bar of fels naptha soap and a scrub brush (one that is not dirty) and wet the bristles of the scrub brush, swipe it across the bar of soap, and do this a few times till you have some soap/suds on it. Take the brush across the collar stains. Gently brush the stains over and over.

Put in the washer in a 'soak' of Oxyclean and detergent. Swish it around a few times, then let it sit. Soak over night. Wash as usual.

I'd rub it with shampoo, but maybe one of these tips will work.

I mix half bleach, half water and rub the spots with a Qtip dipped in the bleach water. Lemon juice can help too.

Try white vinegar. Soak the stains (I just dump or spray a little on them, so the whole stain gets soaking, not the whole shirt.)

Are we talking ring around the collar type stains? If so cheap shampoo or dawn dish liquid, applied, let soak for a while, throw in washer and wash w/bleach or oxiclean....it's always worked for me.

I save old slivers of bar soap and use them to treat all kinds of stains. I also have two bottles of shampoo I bought for DH and Mr. Stubborn wouldn't use it and it is a pretty good stain remover, too.

I don't discard anything that lathers. I use it on my laundry.

I'm in the process of trying the dawn and oxiclean method. I'm crossing my fingers that it'll work. If it does it will save us from buying more shirts in the near future. I'll keep you posted on how it turns out.

The shirt definitely turned out cleaner. DH wanted to know why I didn't re-wash all his clean shirts and do the same with them. Instead I'll wait until their worn and dirty before doing this! Thanks for all the tips!
