A tip about tips
Hi gang. Frugal tips can be valuable if you share how you carry them out versus simply stating that you do them.
The tip then becomes a solution.
For example, if your tip is you save on car washes by doing it yourself. Go one step further and say how you wash your car at home. What kind of soap? How do you dry it? I know it seems obvious, but this is just an example.
Second example, maybe your tip is that you cook from scratch, give an example of what you make.
A tip answers the question How do I do something to be frugal? Or is a statement of This is what I do.
It's making a statement and backing it with a fact and will improve the breadth of conversations.
So here's my tip:
Instead of saying I make homemade fudge.
You can reuse a frosting tub by removing the label and recovering it with wrapping paper. You can make fudge from the frosting or simply reuse the tub as a misc. gift container. If you make the fudge, you can cut it into pieces and package it in the tub.
Here's some recipes for frosting fudge:

Similar can be done with peanut butter jars (or mason jars or pringles containers) and using the jar to hold peanut butter (or any type) cookies. If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. I was just thinking about the older thread about what tips are you sick of reading. The reason it seems like the same old stuff is because the personal story/experience from each individual isn't shared. People do things in different ways. We all have our own little shortcuts we do. Most of the time, we don't even think about it being an actual shortcut or solution. Just a day in the kitchen with my husband shows me how differently we approach doing things. LOL

Very good point. Sometimes things that seem obvious to us may not have occurred to someone else.
I'm going to check out that frosting fudge. I've got some frosting in my pantry that I'd like to use up.
