I have been doing this for about a week. We bought the 25 lb bag of popcorn from Sam's Club along with the popcorn salt and this works great with kids that love to have popcorn all the time. I also like that I can control the amount of salt.

omg!
i always thought the microwave bags were something special when you'd buy 'em at the store. (kinda like those sandwich boxes w/the reflective material.)
and i'm not using staples... tape works happily for me. i'd be the one person to touch the staple & get burned.
how great! thanks for sharing

We don't use staples either. So far, I have just folded the top of the bag down three times with no problems. No tape or staples.

That's great! I love popcorn but not all the salt they put in the pre-made bag!

Now that I think about it...the fake-buttery flavor is what I like about microwave popcorn.
I have an air-popper I got at a garage sale for $1, no bag required, so I guess that's more frugal, huh.

I sent this link to my mom and this was her response:
You are so cheap that it's sometimes disturbing.

I loved it too.
I'm still trying to figure out what to season the popcorn with. Anybody know how to make a Kettle Corn taste?

Thank You!!! This is going to save me a lot of
money. Great tip.
