    Default Bottle in the tank

this idea comes from the book Americas Cheapest Family.
For those of us with older toilets...

".....put a filled water bottle (24-32 oz) in the toilet tank. This will save you the equivalent volume of water on each flush. It can result in significant water savings, especially if you have a large family."

I used 2 -16 oz water bottles and will be looking forward to the savings on my bill, with ever increasing water rates every oz counts.

I use to do this all the time. We now have a new toilet and don't have to do it anymore.

    Great tip!!

Great tip. I like this water saving tip much better than the fewer flushing tips .

LMAO!!! I will have to agree! I like this idea but the way the toilets were installed in this house..they are under the counter you can't hardly fit a magazine on top of it.

I even do this with my low volume tanks. I use glass bottles like quarts and pints. The don't tip over or cause problems. Works great and really cuts down on water use.
