So, we must be thinking on the same wave length!!! I just made self rising flour a few hours ago! I make 4 cups at a time, using the same recipe! I store it in a glass jar and give it a good shake before measuring. I made 2 loaves of beer bread and they're cooling as I type...
    Beer Bread
1 can of beer (I buy the cheapest)
    3c self rising flour
    1/2c sugar
Mix, use a sprayed loaf pan, 350* about 40min. Delish!

A few months ago, I was looking online for substitutions for self-rising flour, and most of what I read, said that all recipes that contain self rising flour and baking powder, you can use regular flour. So I just started using regular flour and adding a tsp of baking powder. Very similiar to your recipe!

This is true, I only buy plain flour (all purpose) and use baking powder when necessary. Thats why its all purpose lol

This is also how you can make whole wheat self-rising flour for those of us who mill our own flour.
