share your talents
I have a family childcare so I hung a bulletin board so parents ( me too) can post things they are skilled at , want to sell, trade or barter.
Maybe you have something at work that can be use in this manner. People you know have no idea often of your talents.Meg

I have used most of my proffessionel life as a consultant where I help businesses optimize their procedures and results (without cut-backs).
The idea has allways been that the benefit of every improvement shall be used for making even better results or as a bonus for those who did the actual work with improvements.
Now I hold a position where I don't use these skills every day, but just run a company.
I would therefore like to offer free of charge to help users of this forum with optimizing the procedures in their company. Of course, I have only a limited number of free hours per week, but everyone is welcome to send me questions, and I will do my best to help out.
(I live in Denmark, so there might be some response time due to the different time zones.)

I am a child passenger safety instructor. I know almost anything you need to know about choosing a good car seat and how to install it properly.

Oh THANK GOD..I knew there had to be somebody...
I watched my friend fighting hers for almost 15 minutes..and I'm about 70% sure..it's not supposed to go like that.
I'm just heartily relieved to know that there is anyone out there who trains for this..can it be made mandatory training when you have a baby?
I shall immediately tell her that there is such a thing!

Just as a side note from my profession, any law enforcement officer can instruct and assist in installing child safety seats. Check with your local Police Dept. or Sheriff's Office.

HMMMM! My secialty is 'hands down' Italian cooking. I'm not trying to sound like I'm bragging, but people tell me I should open a restaurant or be a chef/caterer! LOL! I feel so crunched for time now, it would never work. And if I do have any cooking talent, I got it from my DF, who was awesome at it, and my GF, who WAS a cook in a restaurant.
There's a part of me that really would love to persue it, but on a smaller scale, like cooking for private parties or small events. I would enjoy it so much that way!
Also, I have a good reportuire (sp?) with kids. I can usually get 'em talking and laughing in no time
But childcare is not in my foreseeable future either. For now I'll happily settle for all the hugs I get from the little guys at my Kingdom Hall.
Love it!!
Theresa

Adding on, because I think we all forgot our most obvious talent...... FRUGALITY Ha!Last edited by mamamia; 03-10-2009 at 08:46 PM. Reason: adding on

Your messages just made me smile all the way - what a talented group of people - who knew??
My strongest skill is that I am a solid listener. Learned early on in life that God had truly given me the gift of listening.
I also sew - seems anything, even an airplane cover.
My passion is working with children with special needs. I teach in a special education setting, and also have an AYSO soccer team for VIP (Very Important Players). for five years, the players, families and I have had a wonderful time and growing relationship. Strange since my disability - arthritis- really keeps me off the field, but somehow I always find surefooted coaches to join our growing group!!
Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

I talent is with special needs kids.
I help advocate for the kids and offer support for the parents. So many parents are afraid they will offend other people by asking or sometimes not receive the services needed for their child.
I am also a full time mommy of 4 special needs children. So who better to help others.

Holy cow! I hesitate to offer my measly skills...
1) I'm good at writing instructions. (I wrote software documentation, when you actually had to tell someone something useful, for 10 years.)
2) I'm a pretty good researcher. I can normally find websites pertaining to a subject, one way or the other.
3) I'm a used bookseller. Don't know if your book is a first edition? I can tell you, in broad terms, whether it likely is, or not, or at least where to look. (WARNING: Being a first edition is NOT necessarily a ticket to something being worth money, any more than age is.) Want to find a hard to locate book? I may know the answer to that too. Because the used book business is every book since Guntenberg, there is NO way that I can tell everyone about every book, no one can.
4) Want to know how to estimate how many bookcases you need? I wrote that up once, I could post it.
5) Because I've shelved so many books, I have a technique for alphabetization that people tell me is really fast if you're interested.

Hey, this thread is fun! My talents aren't so useful or marketable, probably. I taught speech and drama for many years (and still teach speech). So I can teach how to enunciate, how to overcome undue nervousness, how to organize information, how to reach audiences, how to use visual aids, how to portray characters, etc. I can build and paint scenery, design lighting and costumes and do specialty stage make-up. I also taught journalism, so I have talents in photography, writing, and graphic design. I'm also a published writer, and have sold poetry, short stories, and articles for magazines.
So if you have any questions about these things, I'll be glad to answer, but I'm not really doing any of this in a "for sale" situation.Spiritual:
