uses for aluminum foil?
Let's name some uses for aluminum foil other than typical food storage or pan cover.
Like...to cover stove drip pans so they're easier to clean. If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. Well this may be an obvious one but you don't have to purchase the foil cut up in the beauty supply places if you use foil to color your hair. They will charge you more for almost the same thing. The cheap kind that you can get at the store will work just as well.

1. Reynolds Wrap Release foil is great used to line your pan when you make brownies or fudge. You can lift the entire "cake"/block of fudge out of the pan and cut them and they don't stick to the foil.
2. This tip is off the box of [I]Release[I] foil...
Wrap leftover pizza sliced in non-stick foil. To reheat, open the foil and heat in the oven on the same foil sheet. Crusts stay crisp and melted cheese won't stick so you get to enjoy every bite!
3. I love pop-up foil sheets (12"x11-3/4"). I get a box of 500 at Sam's Club. I package serving sizes of all kinds of breads I make (dinner rolls, cornbread, muffins, etc.) and keep them in the freezer. To reheat them, I just pop them (in the foil) in a toaster oven for a few minutes along with something else being baked.
5. Uses for used, but clean, foil:
-Save a wad of used foil to use as a scrubby to clean a pan.
-When you are painting, you can cover a door knob to prevent paint splatters on it.
-You can rub rust off chrome with a wad of aluminum foil dipped in water.Last edited by Grainlady; 03-22-2009 at 03:26 AM.

place some foil in the windows to reflect off the summer heat.
keep the cat from scratching or the dog from chewing the legs of furniture.
Just wrap the legs in foil....it keeps the away from it.
Put small pieces of foil under the legs of furniture when you shampoo carpet, it will let the carpet dry without having to keep the furniture out of the room.
Throw a ball of foil in the dryer with your clothes, it stops static.
Put a piece around your pie crusts edge as you bake a pie, it keeps the crust from over cooking.
Cut through some layers of foil to sharpen your scissors.

I've heard you can place a layer of foil under your ironing board cover to reflect heat and make wrinkles disappear faster.
