Smile In need of glass cleaning tips!

Our general rule here, is we don't use disposable items with the exception of toilet paper. I don't buy paper plates, napkins, etc. We use re-usable alternatives for all those things.

Well, the only dillema that I run into is cleaning certain glass items, like my bathroom mirror and my computer screen. If I use a regular cleaning rag, I end up with streaks. I've tried using newspaper (which I've heard works well, but I don't get the paper, so I don't always have them on hand), but I still end up with smudges. Paper towels seem to be the only thing that works and doesn't leave smudges, streaks or lint behind!

For all my windows, and my TV (since it is bigger) and my glass cabinets and things, I have found a good solution. I bought a squeegee at the dollar store, and I just use that. It works great...just not on really small things.

I bought paper towels while I was doing my spring cleaning and I feel so guilty about it! I know there has to be an alternative...can anyone help with some tips?

    Microfiber cloths work really well.

I <3 microfibre cloths for cleaning glass. You know the streaks mainly happen when you clean the window when the sun is shining on the pane, right?

    Hi,
I went to automotive section of Walmart and bought the cloths they sell for detailing autos. Those have worked very well. Just toss them in a cold water wash when finished.

I use newspaper for all of my glass surfaces. We don't generally buy a lot of newspapers but we do get a few freebies in the mail and dh enjoys looking at the free sale bills you can pick up around town. These are all printed on newspaper type material and after reading we just use what we need for cleaning and recycle the rest.

I'm with elphie. Newspapers help stop streaks as well. Sounds strange, but works like a charm!

I second the newspaper idea. We only get the Sunday paper which ends up paying for itself due to the coupons. (well, we actually save more than we end up paying for the paper- so I guess they are paying us to get the paper!)

If you really don't want the paper, I bet some of your friends would gladly give you their old newspapers!
