tips i haven't read here....
so i have been combing books and internet sites for tips (other than the obvious that are posted here) and i have found some that i have not seen...(that's not to say they haven't been posted here before and are 'buried' in some archive..you guys think of everything...lol......but as far back as i have managed to read i haven't seen them)....so here goes.... hope some of them are of use to you guys....
-- If you need to use hot water put a bucket under the drain valve of your hot water tank and fill it from there it helps get rid of any sediment on the bottom of your hot water tank, prolonging the life of your hot water tank.
--Dishwasher ----do a light wash setting- rinse dishes before- but half way through press "rinse" and complete the wash… dishes are still sanitized and clean- save on energy and water.
--Fill a small bottle w/ 2 T dish soap and fill with water…squirt your dishes….
--Plastic milk jugs; cut to size and add drainage holes, and place by plants for drip irrigation or make a watering can…drill about 12 small holes just below spout on opposite side of the handle…put lid on fill with water…
--Wasp trap: empty 2 ltr bottle dissolve ½ c sugar in ½ c water…add 1 cup apple cider vinegar and a banana peel…screw on cap ..shake good.. Fill bottle ½ full of water…cut or drill ¾ hole near top of bottle and hang from tree….
--Use bubble pack on the bottom of veggie crisper in fridge to prevent bruising of fruits & vegs….
--Keep candles in freezer to make them burn slower…
--Pest strip: cover empty paper towel holder w/transparent tape, sticky side out and hang…
--Put items in freezer in zip-lock baggie that you would normally store in a safe…protects them from fire, tornado, etc….
--Furniture scratches: soak scratch w/water to open up wood…use crayon close to color…apply to scratch, rub in well & buff…
--Spray roaches w/rubbing alcohol…
--Homemade bug killer for plants: fels naphtha bar soap mixed w/water in spray bottle…
--Lawn food: 1 cup Epsom salt, 1 cup antiseptic mouthwash, 1 cup liquid dish soap, 1 cup ammonia,1 can beer…fill hose end sprayer and set to have mix with 20 gallons of water…
--Plant marigolds around perimeter of garden…keeps animals & bugs out…..
--Slide toilet tissue holders over small plant seedlings in the garden to protect…slip off or cut off when necessary….
--Dehumidifier: charcoal briquettes in coffee can…punch holes in lid…replace coals every few months…
--Coat hanger plant markers: cut up little signs from milk jugs…write name on markers…cut short stakes from wires make two slits in plastic and pass wire thru the slits…
--Use paper lunch sacks that are colored for gift bags….
--Clean a clogged drain…drop a couple of alka seltzer tablets down drain…pour in vinegar…wait a few moments….hot water at full force…..
--Sprinkle baby powder between the sheets in the hot summer….
--Dry banana peels on screen thru-out winter…run thru blender in spring as use as mulch for new seedlings….
--Baster for blowing roach powder into hard to reach places….
--Bean bag for tired muscles….fill old sock with beans..tie shut…micro for 1 minute….
--To make printer cart last…change color font to grey instead of black and you will use less ink….
--Put tsp of sugar in the bottom of a zip-lock bag and put cheese in (in original wrapping) and close baggy…will last 10 wks that way….
--Douse charcoal grills with water or put in closed coffee can to smother after grilling and they can be re-used again….
--Store shaving blades head side down in oil to prevent rusting
--Douse ticks with Tabasco sauce and they will back right out
-- To prevent freezer burn, seal the package about 99% of the way (this is if you use ziploc bags to store meat/vegetables/fruits) with a straw at the very edge. Suck all of the air out of the bag with that straw and then seal the bag as soon as you remove the straw.
--For fluffier omelets: ½ tsp baking soda per 3 eggs used…
--Pour sugar into empty litre bottle or jug to make it easier to pour out….
--Beans: soak overnight -drain- & then freeze…cuts cooking time to 20 mins
--Freeze eggs in ice cube trays….

--Store leftover soda crackers in their wax sleeve in a Pringles can…
--Put hamburger in freezer bags and flatten w/rolling pin…freeze…thaws quicker too….
so there you have it...like i said some 'may' just be repeats...i hope you find some that are helpful....
