A good way to reduce lunch meat sodium.
I saw this on another board and figured with my sodium kick I'm on, I'd give it a try:
Take your sliced lunch meat and let it sit in a bowl of water for about a couple of minutes. It'll rinse the salt residue off of the meat, thus lowering some of the sodium content that's in the juices of the package. After you soak it for a minute or two, pat it dry with a towel.
I tried this and I love it! It's great! I now taste the meat, not the salt and the meat.Wife to DH since 10/31/2002!

Whole hams can also be soaked in water overnight to help draw off some of the salt/sodium before you bake them.

Thanks I'll give it a try. I've been trying not to buy lunch meat because of the salt, this might be the solution I need.
