Default 1st Attempt at Homemade Laundry Detergent!

I just finished my first batch of homemade laundry detergent. I am so excited to find out how well it will work for us. My DH is a skeptic but I think he knows that I am at the point where I will do it anyway and he really doesn't have much choice. I think once he sees how much $ it will save us he'll be more into it. One of the girls at my office has also decided to try this recipe. We're still working on one of the others!

I had a post about 3 weeks ago about making mine and and I do love it. I'm trying to get others in my area on the band wagon of making their own. I'm also making the one for the dishwasher and I love it too. Its doing well if not better than the store bought.

I managed to get ahold of several detergent bottles that DH hadn't thrown out yet. Rinsed them out and refilled them with the home made stuff. The DH is getting a little more into it. Now he sees that we basically have 10 gallons of detergent for less than the cost of one bottle at the store! Oh yeah! I always use the clothes line unless the weather is too cold or raining! Sunshine is the best fragrance ever!

I love mine as well! Even DH commented the other day to never buy the store stuff ever again. That made me happy knowing he likes the outcome.

i have been experimenting with making this myself. I started to add the essential oil (lemon) because my hubby gets greasy and dirty and to me it just didn't smell good enough. I have also been adding a tiny bit of Sun oxy cleaner (generic oxy clean) to each load.

I love using vinegar as the rinse, it really does work and you don't need very much to soften the clothes.

I am really excited about these alternatives for laundry soap too ! I know it is saving a lot. we do a ton of laundry !

I'm making little packages of my powder laundry detergent for my coworkers to try - nothing is as persuasive as for them to use it themselves!! ....and since I make my own, I can afford to share some!!
