How do you get ink out of whites?
Can anyone suggest any good ways for getting black pen ink out of white shirts and wollens. DBF left a pen in the washing machine and it exploded! Grr!

Mary Ellens stain remover is what I use. It is available at Joannes Fabrics in the states. If you can't get it try hair spray. If we're talking cotton fabric it may not come out entirely. Wool I have not ideas. We're allergic.

Make sure it is the canned hair spray and not the pump kind. It is a chemical in the spray and not the actual hair product that gets it out.
If you have a product called "Holy Cow" there, try the pink formula of that product. It has taken blueberry stains out of my kids church shirts. Just for fun I decided to spray it on one of my old yucky messy work shirts. The product got furniture scratch remover out of my shirt.

Try some rubbing alcohol. I've had good luck getting ball point pen ink out of clothes and upholstery with it.
“When you get to the end of all the light you know
and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
you will be given something solid to stand on,
or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller
“Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
there are signs that the world is speedily
coming to an end;
bribery and corruption are common; children no
longer obey their parents;
every man wants to write a book and the
end of the world is evidently approaching.”

an Assyrian clay tablet, circa 2800 B.C.E.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

I was a nurse in the days of white uniforms. I'd have to agree with rubbing alcohol or hairspray.

On the non-woolen I would go for the rubbing alcohol...the woolen? don't know
If the RA doesn't work I always try dishwasher powder. That stuff is really strong, but don't let it sit on the clothes too long. Whites are okay but a friend put a spot in her navy blue top. Make a paste with water...rub it on...scrub...and rinse it out.
