One mans trash is another mans treasure
I use a website called Freecycle to get rid of things my family no longer needs and it goes to someone who will use definetly use it. I've gotten rid of kids bikes, yarn, sandbox, clothes, tapes, movies, blankets, decorations, etc.... I've also gotten fabric, clothes, a microwave, cards, etc...
It is such a great way to avoid filling the earth with trash. If you know of something similar let me know!

I did a search on Yahoo Groups for freecycling in my area. I now belong to 3 different local groups. I've gotten so many great things, and was glad to return to the group what I no longer needed.

I'm on four groups, and just found out about a fifth one in my area. It still amazes me that I can list just about ANYTHING and somewhere, SOMEBODY needs it!

I JUST got something from freecycle today! I got a new-to-me hamster cage. Much bigger and newer than our old one. Must have cost at least $50. We will freecycle out the old one too. I have gotten rid of alot of stuff there too. I kind of think of it has high tech trashpicking. Most people do show up and send very nice thank-you notes for what your send out.

We also have freecycle. Also, in our area (I don't know if they do it in all areas) on Craigslist there is a free section where they list things like freecycle. Also, if you want to let something go, but just can't part with it for no money, craigslist is a good way to sell your stuff for cheap.

freecycle
A guy on freecycle listed two large mirrors with the catch that you had to take his yardsale leftovers. I talked to him and then went and got the mirrors along with my van filled with other stuff. I went through it all and kept some things and am going to pass the rest off to a friend who's having a yardsale and told her she can put it all in the free pile!
Thought I would share my freecycle score with you. By the way, the mirrors are gorgeous. One I am going to take apart sand and restain with a cherry wood finish. The other is fine as is and will probably end up in the living room as well (mabey).

Shelli, that's a great find! Congrats on the mirrors!
What I find that people appreciate the most is when you offer something and then it is taken that when someone e-mails you for it, that you respond and tell them that it was taken so that they at least know you got the e-mail. I like to think of it as freecycle manners.
