Ugg boots
I see everyone wearing Ugg winter boots in Boston. I was told they are very warm. These boots are pricey-are people paying for the name or are they really the best? If not, what other brands are comparable to the quality of these boots?
Thanks,
Karen

I think that they look as if they would be fun to wear - makes me think of little kids' boots!! DD hates them even though I offered to buy her any kind of boots.

I was told by someone who wore them that if you spend the $200+ for the brand name, they're totally worth it. Apparently she had tried the lower priced imitations/store brand version and they were not as comfy, warm and supportive vs the brand.
I guess if you're going to get Uggs, do it right? It's a look I'd rather not sport myself and I agree...they do look like kids boots!

Love, love love them!!! Down here, in the deep south, we don't need boots for warmth. They are pretty much worn just for the look. Right now, Uggs are the hot item in our area. Jeans, all tucked into them, cute top with a scarf - it's what everyone has on these days. All of the teens, tweens, and a majority of the adults are wearing them, or a knock-off version. I've been searching high and low for a couple of weeks for the perfect pair for me. Bought DD two pair of knock-offs last week. Just wanted to make sure she would wear them before I bought her the real thing. So far, she has worn them all but one day.

Me and my daughter have both a pair but they are the cheaper kind and was a gift. I think they are fun and cute.
But what's not cute is when you see women wearing them with mini skirts and short shorts. lol

The ones that the kids are wearing around here are wearing through the sides. Sd had a pair and they lasted last winter and that was it. Right below the ankle they wore through somehow. and they were really slippy.

UGG = UGLY.
I don't get it? I am in Florida and there is no need for boots like that yet I see all the young girls wearing them with mini skirts. They just look ridiculous.

I own a pair. My second pair in my life. I absolutely love them, although they're not very good for your feet. I wear them at least 3 times a week unless it's raining/snowing. I dont like to get them wet. They were originally made for surfers in Australia to wear winter and summer, that's why you see people wearing them in the summer. They are suppose to be worn in the winter with socks to keep feet warm and without socks in the summer to keep feet cool because of the lining.

I LOVE mine... and yes I live in Florida. Real Uggs are made of shearling (sp?) and like Rhayne said for surfers in Australia. You don't have to buy the Ugg brand as long as they are made from real shearling and not synthetics ie the target ones. They really do regulate the temperature of your feet- when its cold your feet are warm but not sweaty... I never wear socks with them.
on to why I love them: I know they look funny. But they are seriously the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. I even wear them in the house on chilly days since we try not to run the heat. My husband thinks I look funny in Uggs and flannel PJ pants but I don't care! I usually wear them with jeans tucked in. I agree that they look silly with mini skirts.I love being a History Teacher!
