I don't know I didn't drink the wine my friend's husband get them from friends they save all their wine bottles for him to make the bottles! I have a green bottle that we drank for our 25th anniversary last year & I want to make a bottle like that to go in my kitchen as a memory!

I love the idea of the lights and the dish soap bottles! I will have to see if I can find the drill bit for glass. I have plenty of wine bottles. and if I have any cook out I will have to use them as well. Thank you for the wonderful ideas!

I have one saved to invert the Angel Food cake pan. We don't have pop bottles that work anymore.
Love the lights idea. I've seen it a few times. We would need a drill bit that will cut through glass...

the wine is from Oliver Winery which is just north of Bloomington Indiana on Hwy 37. Its a really neat little winery and it sits in this awesome landscaped area that people stop just to walk the grounds as much as they do to taste & buy the wines... they have this great mango wine that they came out with a few years ago...yummy... in fact all their flavored wines are really good... we have been going to the winery for years and luckily our local stores all stock it coz it's still 1 1/2 hr drive for me from home.... if you get the opportunity to try their wines do so coz you won't be disappointed....

I made a lighted wine bottle for my kitchen and can help a little with details. You need a diamond-tipped drill bit to drill through the glass. It will skitter around on the surface (scratching it), so I taped off a tiny square area with painter's tape to keep me somewhat contained. You also have to keep the spot you're drilling wet so that the glass doesn't overheat and crack. I just soaked a small dishcloth w/ water and kept it nearby so I could squeeze on a few drops as needed. For the lights, you need a set of mini lights that only has a plug at one end -- make sure you don't get a set that also has a connector at the other end, because it won't fit through that tiny hole. I used white lights with my green bottle, but a multicolored set with white wires sure would be pretty in a clear bottle. A bow or raffia tied around the neck adds a final finishing touch!
I love jlaporte's idea of making a no-mess incense burner. I could totally see this with a colored glass bottle wrapped with wire and beads for a funky accent.
Trishagirl, I have seen a few bottle trees around here -- thanks for the background info on them! But how do you melt a bottle? Can that be safely done at home or does it require special equipment, like a kiln?

MyMelody you need a kiln to melt it in or take it to a college that has glass blowing classes they have a kiln and can melt it for you.
