Default Uses an empty wine bottle

I have a few empty wine bottles of different sizes and colors. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on what I could do with them? I've read alot online about cuting them to make certain things but I haven't got the tools or talent to cut them. Does anyone out there keep wine bottles and then reuse them for another purpose? Maybe collect enough to make something out of them?

Also - What about other alcohol bottles of different shapes and sizes. We don't drink that much but we do have a few bottles that could be used as well.

My Mom stuck a candle in hers. She would let it melt down and cover the bottle then change colors. It was actually quite pretty with 2-3 coordinating colors that went with the room.

something i do with wine bottles is use them to save money....(the openings & necks are so small that you can't fill them with change..dimes yes... but other than that...its all bills....

i have 2 bottles going right now... one is labeled vacation fund and the other is x-mas 2010... they are dark green so i can't see in them so i can't 'guess' how much i have going...(which is part of the fun)....

i keep putting any x-tra money i run across (refunds, returns, survey checks, b-day presents, and any other 'surprise money') that i get into the bottles (i distribute it evenly)...

then when we have our next vacation we will 'break' the bottle and there is our reward on spending money....

the x-mas 2010 is designed to have enough in it to buy all presents for others and then whatever is left over dh and i will buy something for ourselves or our house or something that we really want but wouldn't normally buy....

you could have other catagories that you want to save for instead...

i like the wine bottles coz one i can't see in them...(if yours are clear you could spray paint or decorate the outside based on the 'theme' of the savings goal) and two...when we get to 'break' them and count out what we have it creates another element of fun and surprise to go along with the occasion...AND we can't shake any money out of them beforehand...they have to be broken to get to the money....

    just a thought for you....

“After the last tree has been cut down, after the last river has been poisoned, after the last fish has been caught.
Only then will you find that money can't be eaten.”

I use wine bottles to add to a bottle tree outside - especially blue ones, but any color is okay.

Clear ones I use for making herb flavored vinegars or oils. You just stick a few herbs and/or peeled garlic cloves inside and fill with the liquid. Great for cooking!

We used to do this in college. In fact, it was one of my first "home" decorations.....

How about creating a vignette w/wine bottles, bowl of fruit and candles.....

I use them to put new wine in.

I have a recipe for some quick, ok, wine tht I will find and post. It's not company wine, but it does the job quit nicely and its super cheap.

I have one by the sink that I keep my dish soap in, and two by the stovetop that I keep my cooking oil and olive oil in. I put liquor bottle stoppers in the top so that I can just pour out the dishsoap or oil. Mine are blue, amber and clear, but I have seen them painted with beach scenes or flowers

You can put mini Xmas lights inside and use as a cute light for your kitchen counter.

well if you can poke a whole in the lower side and take a key chain ring you can use it as incense burner. The long stick ones. Use the key ring, the round thing u attach keys to to slide the nonburning end into it and light it stick it in bottle upside down . this way here u dont have messy ash.The whole in the bottom/side helps with air so it doesnt smother. Actually a hole near the neck will work just as well ur choice. But it does work.

I like this idea. I made some vinegars last year and was 'scrounging' for bottles.

Also gives me an excuse to GET some wine bottles! And of course, I have to EMPTY them! None of that cooking wine either!

We buy our wine and liquor at the liquor store however return the empties to the beer store b/c they already have a recycling program. I don't drink often but I think we get 10 cents/beer bottle/can and 20 cents for wine & liquor.

If its a super pretty bottle, I'll clean it out and use it as a vase to hold dried flowers to put on display around the house I've also used beer & wine bottles to hold candles as well. Very pretty.
