Default Washing brand new jeans for first time.

We live in an apartment and don't have our own washer and dryer so we go to a laundromat. I got a pair of very dark (almost black) jeans for christmas and I haven't washed them yet. I'm worried they'll bleed onto other clothes if I wash them with anything else. If I had a washer I would wash them alone. How should I wash them here at home?

A little trick I learned years ago from my older sister.... If you have something that you believe the color will bleed, soak it in cold salt water before you wash it. Sorry, don't have any proportions to give you, I just dump a lot of salt into the water.

I usually do jeans by themselves in a load -- DH mainly wears jeans to work, so I always have a full load. I'd suggest turn them inside out and wash the load on cold.

Denim tends to have excess dye in it, and since it is dye that the fabric has not absorbed (just sitting on top of the fibers) it is going to come off in the wash and no amount of salt is going to help.

I say wash them with your other jeans and dark clothing and don't worry about it.

Use a shout color catcher and you can wash them with other dark clothes and they don't fade on them

now if only we could figure out a way that washing a new pair of jeans would make all the older ones in the wash come out looking new as well from the dye bleed......

Oh, so this is why I asked my mother why is my jeans are cold and she answered me, so the color will not fade. I really don't get it though!
