Found a great soap grater
I make my own laundry powder by hand. I kept snapping the Dollar Tree graters trying to grate a bar, and I was never happy with how it came out in longer and thicker pieces than I wanted.
I've been grating soap tonight with... a mini-grater !! I received a package of holiday cocoa and it came with a tiny ornament sized grater. It's an actual working grater and just the right size as it completely powders the bar of soap and I don't have to worry about skinning my knuckles because it's so small.
It looks a lot like this one, except mine has a red handle.
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

Congrats Lady V - I know what you mean about the skinned knuckles!! That is one cute grate!! I use an old fashioned metal ginger grater and love how fine it gets the fels naptha soap!! Mahalo for sharing that darling grater!!

I use my food processor to shred my soap. I use the grator on top and the blades on the bottom. I run it until the soap is a very fine.

I found an old kids hand crank sno-cone maker at a thrift shop and it works GREAT for grating my soap. Just drop in the soap where you'd normally put ice cubes, and crank away! No worries about the knuckles anymore.
It works so well that when my kids are in town, they grate a few bars to take home ready to mix up.
