Smile Cook from Scratch and Save Money

In response to someone asking for tips on how to cut their grocery bills, and how stick to a weekly food budget, I wrote about the importance (and wonderful rewards) of cooking from scratch. There's no doubt about it: leave the pre-made meals in the store, and learn to cook very thrifty, nutritious, and easy meals at home, and you will cut your grocery bills.
In my post I mentioned that my brother (who is a chef, and a very thrifty one at that!) has created a video series on YouTube, called Thrifty Cooking. In each video he teaches a new type of cooking skill that is then used to prepare a thrifty, wholesome meal.
I was asked to post the information for this video series in a space where more people might read about it and check it out for themselves.
I'm new to the forum and am not yet able to post links, so here are the YouTube Channel's details:
The Channel is called Thrift Culture Now, and the titles of the videos start with "Thrifty Cooking". Please let me know if you need any more info. I hope you can learn something new and that it will help you to cut your bills too!

It's much easier to check something out when you just have to click. Thanks for coming back and doing the extra work for us

    Thanks for the link.

I agree... cooking from scratch is essential in keeping food costs down.

I think I may just have to get back to baking all my bread (how I will find the time I don't know...), because I can't believe the price of a loaf these days!

And homemade taste so much better. You can control the amount of salt too, which is great for someone who can have to much salt.

Absolutely agree home cooking can save big costs. Getting veggies etc from farm markets and other places apart from the supermarkets can also quite often reduce the amount you spend. And, of course, if you have the space, grow your own veggies!

The nice thing about cooking from scratch is that you'll have available ingredients for a different meal. Prepackaged meals means you're going to be eating exactly that meal, there isn't much you can do to change the food.
