    Default printer not working

We have always had hp printers. They used to tell you when the ink was low.
We have 2 hp printers and both went out within 4 days of each other and we weren't sure what was wrong. We found out and I wanted to let everyone know; the ink cartridges got low and were printing fine and then not at all. We tried filling the ink and they were still not working. We ordered ink cartridges online and they are now both working. It seems once they dry filling them won't work.

That sounds like what the guy at a ink refill store stated to me. I had some ink cartridges that needed to be filled. He stated he had to check them first to make sure they had not dried out. If they were dried out he could not refill them.

I'm surprised the replacement cartridges work. HP is infamous for their printers shutting down once the initial one dies. Had it happen to DH with a fancy one he bought a few years ago. We'll never buy HP again.

I've had 3 HP printers now that lasted about a year each. Now I only buy Canon. Have 2 Canon I've been using over 10 years, and another I've had for 3 years. HP never again here also.

My HP died a couple months ago. I had had it since my middle schooler was born. My second HP is a couple years behind it. I replaced the dead one with another HP. I've had only good results with them.

    I love my HP printer , 960c.
I have refilled the cartridges. Works just fine.
And I have bought new but expired ink cartridges, on ebay for real cheap and those work just fine. My model is a dumb one. It accepts expired ink

I have had HP's as well. I buy cartridges REAL cheap on ebay - I always have one ahead so I never run out. WHen I put one in I order another one.

The one I am using now is many years old, a deskjet 812C.

The one I had before was SO OLD and BIG - I decided when it ran out of ink I would Freecycle it. Lo and behold, I get a message from someone 1000 miles away who wants to send me money to ship it. Apparently he had one and needed parts or something. And no, it was not a scam either! So happy it got a good home, I was afraid NO ONE would want it!!

Love HP....have a Kodak and it shuts down if it's empty of one color. Also won't take expired ink cartridge. No more Kodak for me....back to HP when the time comes.
