If you have been buying bulk coffee at Starbucks.........might want to read this.
Massachusetts Fines Starbucks For Undisclosed Fee On Coffee
Found it very interesting...........and if the fee truly
wasn't disclosed I hope they lose!!
Sad where we have gone with "consuming".............and no wonder

I didn't know you could buy Starbucks coffee in bags at the coffee shops.
I purchase the 2lb bag at the grocery store. I pay about $13. for it. Is it cheaper by going to the Starbucks?

Um...let's do the math here:
75,000 x $1.50 = $112,500
Minus the fine of $1,575
Difference of $110,925
Seriously, the fine should've been the amount of the stolen money as well as bad PR they've brought on themselves. OR donate the entire amount to a state charity. Just my opinion. I wonder if there are issues with Starbucks pulling the same stunt in other states?2012: The Year Of The Purge!

I don't know.........don't like, or buy their coffee, but thought it was interesting.
See where they are raising their prices AGAIN.........so they must plan on making up the difference real soon!!!
What is going on with the 'coffee thing'????
.........Safeway just got
busted for not having as much "Kona Coffee" as they say in the bag.
Can't remember if they got fined or not..............usually the fines
are just a 'slap on the wrist' amt. anyway!

I don't drink Starbucks either unless someone/place is serving it. About once a year - usually around this time, I'll venture in for a festive coffee but when I did it this year - I was sad b/c I had paid $5+ for coffee flavoured sugar.
This is my annual reminder to NOT go there
Why I need constant reminding, I'll never figure out.

Oh I agree w/ you. I don't buy cups of coffee there. It's way too expensive and too sugary.
I never really thought their coffee was bitter or harsh.
But while we're on it, any suggestions from anyone for the best, least expensive grocery store available coffees? I don't like it too dark. Don't want to be kicked in the head first thing in the morning...

Even though instant coffee seems expensive, it has been by far the least expensive switch I've made yet. But here's what I do:
Its only me in the house.
I only drink 1 cup before I leave for work.
I use 1 teaspoon instant coffee granules, 3 teaspoons of hot chocolate powder, into a microwaved cup of water, stir fast!
So if you have more people, drink more than that, then I could see it being pricey but this has really worked for me and my budget as the jar lasts FOREVER it seems. I buy whatever is on sale at the time that I'm getting low, current brand is Folder's Classic Roast. Store brand or whatever is on sale for hot chocolate.
My other "cheap" option is to buy ground coffee and use a french press. Then I reuse the grounds the next day. I ran out of ground coffee for now and had the instant on-hand so I'm back to instant. I was buying the Folger's Gourmet brand of different flavors, it was really good and did last a long time when I did it this way. The flavors I liked were Hazelnut, vanilla, chocolate. Here is a linky: Folgers Coffee - Gourmet Selections - Bistro Blend, Bold Java, Brazilian Sunrise, Caramel Drizzle, Chocolate Truffle, Crème Brulee, Hazelnut Crème, Lively Colombian, Morning Café, and Vanilla Biscotti
They were as good as the Starbucks in my opinion! Again, maybe pricey if you have more people drinking it or make large pots of it.LDR

Yah, I suck at this money stuff, I know. That's why I'm here.

I drank instant years ago, then switched. Taster's Choice
was my preference and it got too expensive. (think I still have a jar)
I am a pretty big coffee drinker........slurp the first cup down standing right at the counter.....
.......and go on from there!
Need that morning jolt!!
