What are your best garage sale tips?
I want to hold a garage sale in may and I am preparing for this, slowly. I want to be very organized and make it a sucess. Does anyone have good tips to share? Thank-you

I found this, which is helpful, but I thought maybe my frugal village friends could have precious information also.

Well, I'll tell you what. As I put aside things for our garage sale, I priced them before I put them in the box. That was VERY helpful on Sunday when we had our impromptu sale. I wasn't put off by the thought of pricing everything the night before or the morning of. It was done and it was very helpful.
Another tip is be willing to bargain. If the purpose of your sale is to get rid of stuff, accept any offer. People would bring up a pile of stuff to buy and it would come to $12.50 and I would say, "You can have it for $10." It made them happy, they might go home and call a friend, and the stuff was outta my house! My Blog: http://amysreallife.wordpress.com

~have lots of change. Invariably someone will hand you a $50 bill. Here there is a specific group that does it all the time.
~always keep your money with you. Its so easy for anyone to walk away with your money.
~anything you put out for sale should be clean and in good repair. I'm with Amy, I priced mine long before I had the sale. If you aren't sure of prices, check around at a couple of yard sales before your date. It will give you a chance to see what things are priced at.
~if at all possible, have someone else help you.
~Amy is right, be prepared to take less.
~Have a "free" box. It will draw more customers.
~A really neat idea I had read before. If you have the regular price you paid for it or close to it marked and then your asking price, people will be more apt to purchase an item that way, especially when it comes to small appliances and such.
~if your selling a small appliance or anything that has instructions to it, such as a bread machine, try to have that with the item your selling. It makes it easier for the customer to purchase something when they have the instructions with the item.
Good luck Lucie!!
