Default another use for t shirts

not only do tshirts make nice cloth diapers, they can be made into rugs as well. lay shirt flat, cut the hem away. cut loops across until you reach the underarms.you can make shorter loops by doing the same for the sleeves. interlock the loops by using a slip knot. using a big crochet hook( I use a big blue plastic one, doesn't have the size stamped on it) crochet the rug yarn into a long chain, using a chain st. working on a flat surface so your work won't curl, and starting in the center of the rug,sew chain together making a circle. you need a tufting needle and double strands of crochet cotton. you can make a different style of rug by chain stitching to desired width, then sc in each st,ch 1, turn. work until desired length. you can also make rugs like this from sweatshirts and socks using this same method.

    Great idea!

Maybe I'll raid Jack's closet full of tshirts and try this! Think he'll miss them?

BTW The big blue plastic hook is a size 'Q'.

thanks for the info about the hook size..i've had that hook for years! I think you'd better go through dh's tshirt collection and search for holes, stains, etc. then convince him that they need to go bye-bye lol. sometimes you can find tshirts in a "free stuff" pile at garage sales, or tell some friends about your project and ask if they have any ratty tshirts that you could have
