Does anyone have a practical use for these jars? We use so many, I hate to throw them out if there are practical uses. I'd love it if anyone has any thoughts!

The art teacher at our school had the kids bring in the baby food jars, with lids, and when they had collected about 200, the kids all painted the jars..decorated them..and then the adults help them make candles, potpourri jars, and for the dads, they had a gentleman come in and help them make a "spice rack type" of holder, but each jar would be holding a different sized batch of screws, nuts, bolts, etc. The lids were glued under the top of a small frame they made out of wood, so the jars could be simply screwed off when needed, and screwed back to the board when finished.

Left over lids were also decorated, outside and in, and small pictures of the child's family were glued inside the caps to make picture frames for gifts for Christmas, and for tree decorations. Several of them could be put together on ribbon and/or fishing line to make wall decorations.

As school starts, it's a good time to ask any of the local schools if they can use them for art projects.

I have seen Girl Scouts make a "Christmas tree" using a string of lights and glueing the jars together in the form of a Christmas tree. A hole was made in the lid and the lights were poked through the lid into the inside of the jar. I cant remember the exact details, but I think that either the jars were painted red and green with white lights, or they were left clear with red and green lights. Either way the "tree" was beautiful!!!!! It seemed simple to make, and would be a great project for a cold November day!!!

They sell the candle wax that has the little wax beads & wick in them. The little jars would make great candle holders. My husband & I travel alot and always take candles for our hotel rooms. It is great to have candles with covers on them. A child could also decorate the jars and give the candles as christmas gifts to relatives or teachers!
