    Default Use It Up!

In an effort to save money and be more frugal I am always reminding myself to

    Use It Up!

Instead of running to store to buy more face cream I am looking through my cupboard and double checking for left-over bottles and free samples I have gotten in the mail.

Instead of running to the bookstore to buy a new book I am looking through my box of unread books.

Instead of a new spring outfit I am going to hunt down my old clothes and see if anything needs mending.

Instead of going to Starbuck's I am bringing a huge cup of tea to work and bring my lunch and snacks.

I am going to look through the fridge today and try to use up the food we already have.

What do you do to use-it-up?

DID DEEP in the deep freezer. I did that today and found enough meals for the rest of the week

Instead of running out many times a week I plan a day to run errands and save on gas

I am using up my old cleaning supplies instead of buying new for my spring cleaning this year. I have plenty of scrubbies and sponges to use and several different kinds of cleaners I have tried and didn't finish.

We got a ground coffeee sample of a brand I don't use, instead of throwing it out I emptied it into our open coffee can and mixed it with the brand we use. You can't taste a difference and it stretched our coffee a few days longer.

Shell, I'm glad you mentioned this because I am using up my stockpile. Not that I want to , but if we are moving I am not moving my stockpile...talk about heavy!!! So in an effort to use up my stockpile, I haven't done any real gorcery shopping in three weeks. I do have to stop at the store still for milk, veggies, bread, eggs and a few extras, but the stockpile is now dwindling fast! I have always wanted to "test" out my stockpile too, so this was a good way to do it. I am now completely out of paper towels, foil, tissues, stewed tomatoes, garlic, onions, canned veggies and am almost out of pasta, canned fruit, boxed mac and cheese, canned soup and rice. It kind of makes me nervous, but it will be okay. Not only am I saving more money, but when DH leaves for three months I will only have myself to take care of, so I will be making lots of freezer meals.

Like Michelle Annette, I'm moving in about a month, so I have to try and use everything in my freezer, since they don't move frozen food. We'll be eating pretty well for the next little while! I'll only be going to the grocery store to buy stuff like milk, eggs and fruit.
As well, I haven't bought any kid shampoo for a while, just using up all the half-empty bottles that I had under the sink! When I combined them, I had 2 1/2 full bottles!
I'm going through my house to see what else I can use up, because the less I have to move, the better!

i need to go look at the half used bottles of shampoo and body wash to see what i can combine into one bottle and get all that used up BEFORE starting on a new bottle.
gotta let my brain pick the bodywash, not my nose.

DH had bought this instant breakfast mix for me -- then we learned I'm lactose intolerant. That was ages ago. Well, I found them the other day and they weren't expired, so I mixed them in with his Slim Fast shake stuff (shhhh!) and he didn't notice any difference.

    Bright Blessings!

I had DH tape 2 liquid laundry detergent caps together and punch holes in them so that when I used up all the detergent I could screw the newly used bottle on top of an old bottle so that I can drain all that detergent off the sides of the bottle. I now have about 5 washer loads that I otherwise would have thrown away.
