Default Second use -- plastic meat trays/tubs

The plastic trays/tub things that meat comes in (at WalMart) tempt me to save them and use them for other things. I have a few saved and have used a large one as a dishpan. Also used one for a small kitty litter pan when our kittens were tiny. They seem like they would be great for bin-like storage.

Its hard to keep my husband from throwing them away -- he thinks I save way too much stuff.

Do you get meat in these tub like things? And if you do, do you re-use them for anything?

I do occasionally buy meat at SuperWM that's in those little tubs. I've been leary of re-using them, though, for fear of the "cooties" from the raw meat. I know you can wash them out good but I'm still a little worried, so I pitch them.

I wonder how they would work for starting seeds?

I don't re-use anything that meat was on/in. They would be good for paints though!

I wash them in bleach, and then use them for storage bins for dd small toys! Also use them in the bathroom for storage for soap, lotions, etc. Dd also has used them to play in the sand. I love those containers!!!!!

I'm glad to hear someone else re-uses them! I was beginning to wonder if I was being totally gross! I don't think I would use them for food, but for storage and etc they are just too great!

Of course I DO wash them very thoroughly!
