Ways to reuse milk jugs!
Ways to reuse Milk Jugs!! Well I use them for several diffrent uses!!
I cut them in half I use the bottom part to plant seeds in as a starter planter!! I use the top part as a funnel to pour flour or others things like liquids or dry goods into a jar without it spilling on other things!!
I use it as a bird feeder!!
I use it as a ice pack for our coolers!!
I use it for a game for DD and I to play!!
I use it to store plastic bags in !!
I reuse them to take Ice Tea in to Church and to Picnics!!
I use it as a watering can for our yard I just poke holes in the lid !!
Well that is mostly how I reuse Milk Jugs!!

Ways to reuse milk jugs!
After the much succes of my ways to reuse plastic bags I figured we could make this a regular thing, esp for our beginners and the few that have not had the pleaure to read any of the twg books.
Fill with water and put into tank of toilet(you don't as much water when you flush)
Fill with water and keep in freezer to take up space if freezer is empty(it costs more to keep a empty freezer cool than a full one
Freeze and use for ice packs in coolers
wash out well and reuse to store diluted kool-aid and juice in for trips or around the house-this also works well with those juicy juice bottles.

I also use milk jugs and juice jugs filled with water in the freezer to keep items cold in case the power goes out - plus a full freezer runs more efficiently than a partially filled freezer.
I save the lids from milk jugs and juice bottles and let ds use them when he paints. I just squirt a bit of paint into the lid (especially great if we are mixing colors), he paints, and then I throw the lids away.
I also keep several milk jugs and juice jugs out in our garage and fill them with the water after someone has taken a bath (we mostly take showers so this doesn't happen often). I then use that water for watering outdoor plants and flowers (the bath water won't harm them).

I had this awesome book called "Vinegar, Duct Tape, Milk Jugs and more", and of course for the life of me, I cannot find it anywhere in my house.
It tells you the million and one uses for milk jugs, old panty hose, yogurt cups. There's also a ton of recipies for homemade cleaners using vinegar, baking soda, ammonia, lemons etc. I think it was a Yankee magazine book- I found it on the clearance rack at the book store (where else? LOL) for about $5.00 over a year ago. I must have lent it out and not have gotten it back (although I don't remember doing so). If you can find it at Amazon, it's definitely worth getting.

I like to cut the gallon milk jugs in half so there is a container and a funnel. My granddaughters take them to the park to dig in the sand. They can share them and leave them behind with children who may not have brought any sand toys with them.

Milk Jug Skeleton for Halloween
Milk Jug Skeleton
Materials:
(9) 1 gallon milk jugs OR (5) 1 gallon and (4) 1/2 gallon jugs
2 lids from milk jugs (for eyes)
1 large swivel fish hook or wire
Black spray paint (for painting eyes)
Black felt & tacky glue (optional)
Hot glue
Xacto knife
Hole punch
Instructions:
Clean & remove labels from the milk jugs. (Hint: Use a hair dryer
and heat the label on the milk jug, for easier peeling.) Print
patterns here.
Jug 1 (Head): Remove lid (save for an eye). Cut off the handle
close to the jug and place aside for shoulder. Trace nose and mouth
pattern on jug on the opposite corner from the handle. Using the
Xacto knife cut out the nose and mouth. Or cut pattern from black
felt and glue on.
Jug 2 (Chest): Remove lid (save for an eye). Cut off the handle
close to the jug and save for shoulder. Trace ribs pattern onto the
sides of the jug opposite the handle. Cut out ribs with Xacto knife.
Or trace pattern from black felt and glue on.
Spray paint the two lids black and lay aside to dry. (Note: Acrylic
brush-on paint will not stick to plastic lid.) Or cover lids with
black felt.
Shoulders: Punch holes in the ends of shoulders with a hole punch
according to diagram.
Jug 3 (Pelvis): Line up the straight edge of the pelvis pattern with
the bottom of the jug. Trace pattern on jug with the tabs at the
corners. When you trace on the second side of jug, match up the two
half tabs to create one complete tab. When finished you will have
four tabs on the four corners of the jug. Cut along the line. With
hole punch, punch holes in the ends of the two longer tabs.
Jugs 4 - 7 (Bones): Cut 4 plain (with center left in) and 4 with
centers cut out. One plain and one cut-out bone is used for each
arm and leg. Punch holes at end of each bone with a hole punch.
Jug 8 (Hands): Trace the pattern for the hands onto the large part
of the jug sides and cut out using Xacto knife or scissors. Punch
hole in top of each hand.
Jug 9 (Feet): Trace the pattern for the feet onto the large part of
the jug sides and cut out using Xacto knife or scissors. Punch hole
in heel of each foot.
Assembly: See Diagram. Glue the two eyes in place on the head
jug. Glue the head to the chest, holding in place until the glue
sets. Glue the chest to the pelvis, making sure the two larger tabs
are to the outside. Glue each handle to the sides of the chest to
create shoulders. OR Trace a milk carton lid onto the top of the
chest jug. Cut out hole and wedge the neck of head jug into the
hole, enlarging as necessary. Trace and cut hole in pelvis jug
also. Punch holes in neck of chest jug. Wedge neck of chest jug
into hole in pelvis jug and insert a dowel or sucker stick through
the holes to hold in place. Punch hole in shoulder edge with hole
punch and punch a hole with nail or sharp object on chest jug.
Insert brad, putting fingers through rib holes to open brad.
Assemble the bones, hands and legs to body as shown in diagram. Tie
together with fishing line or string, letting them hang loosely as
shown.
Attach a swivel-fishing hook by putting a small hole through the
small plastic piece of the jug bottom of the head jug. OR bend a
short piece of wire into a shape. Work prongs into a hole in the
center of head. Hang with fishing line or string.
