    Default Cheap kids party tips.

    Hello,

My middle daughter will be 9 on 20th August and I was wondering if any of you had any cheap kids party tips. I'm artistically challenged so they must be simply.

We had a hot dog and marshmallow roast for my son's b-day last month. Some of the people had never had s'mores. It was fun!

Last year a friend and I were talking about how much fun it would be to have a tea party for little girls. But we don't have little girls, so we thought it would be a good idea for big girls too (us). We never got around to it, but had lots of fun planning what we would do anyway. Some of the things we talked about were buying old china cups and saucers at Goodwill or garage sales -- you have to drink "tea" out of china cups -- even if it is actually juice or kool-aide. Serving "finger sandwiches" (they could be peanut butter) cut into shapes with cookie cutters, fruit slices, cheese cubes and other "finger foods." And of course for a proper tea party everyone must have a hat and a boa. These could also be purchased at a thrift store. I sometimes spray things I buy at Goodwill with Lysol if they can't be washed.

Nine might not be the right age for this type of party. But like I said we had fun just talking about it.

My daughter had a "make your own ice cream sundae" party for her 12th birthday. We bought the huge tubs of vanilla ice cream and a few toppings --- chocolate, nuts, frozen strawberries, whipped topping, and the like --- and the girls had a good time. And there are recipes for ice cream toppings if you'd rather make them than buy.

Great ideas. I'll put them to Emma and see what she thinks. I'll keep you posted.
