    Question Does anyone save...

    the little plastic meat containers?

I just saved one (after washing in boiling water and bleach!) to use in a drawer for an organizer.

Meat here doesn't come in plastic containers. Just a little foam tray on the bottom & the whole thing wrapped in plastic wrap.

I just throw the foam trays away.

Oh, I think I get it now- those whit ones with the wavy sides that ground meat comes in? I don't buy that kind of meat- only chicken breasts, so I had no idea, but now I remember seeing them.

I sure hope they are recyclable. And I wish the styrofoam ones were!

I hear ya! They dont have those over here, the meats come in those styrofoam ones. :-( But if I use left over pickle jars (plastic ones) and the small jars of minced garlic... I use them for little things of extra nails, screws.... I know alot of people using old baby food jars for that type of stuff.

    Neat ideas!

Yes Kimberly those are the ones I'm talking about. My CD's fit in perfectly and holds about 22 of them. They are made out of plastic as opposed to styrofoam. I only have one because I hate going to the Wal*Mart Super store, you have to park so far away it isn't worth it to me to go there.

I save them but I don't boil them. But I always add bleach to the water. I also wash and save the foam ones.

I clean and save containers and jars from everywhere - for a month. If I don't use any by the end of a month, I toss them all. You wouldn't believe how quickly those containers add up!

I dont save many items like that unless I have an idea for using it right away, otherwise I throw it away.

    Eeey Gads... NO!
I'm germ phobic and I'm too afraid of salmonella and e-coli. You should see how hygienic I am when I cook. I get my meat from the butcher shop and he wraps in paper. (hygienicly too!)

I sure wish there was a safe way to recycle those things. But since the recycle team doesn't deem it safe to recycle.. so the frugalfanny household won't buy or reuse them either.

I don't save meat containers but I do have 3 plastic containers from 4 or 5 years ago. Each one is divided into 3 parts and originally held different kinds of nuts. They were too good to throw away, now I use them to hold beading supplies, etc. They are perfect for that.

    Yes - vacuum packed, right?

I usually buy ground beef in a "chub" - a plastic wrap tube.
