    Default Add a household tip

With so many new members, I thought it might be a nice time to start a thread of simple household tips, what is one thing you do that makes life just a little bit easier ?

I line the sink with a piece of newspaper before I peel veggies, this way when I'm done I can just roll it up and toss the whole thing in the compost bin.

This is one I bet everyone knows, but it saves me alot of time.
I keep extra garbage bags in the bottom of my garbage cans (under the one in use)... that way I can pull out the full bag and grab a new one to replace it real quickly.

I always clean up the kitchen as I cook, starting with an empty dishwasher...makes my life sooooo much easier.

Good idea! My tip: Keep dishes and laundry washed, and caught up. This is my tip, doesn't necessarily mean that I stick to it. lol

I put a slice of bread in the container with my cookies. It keeps them from getting hard.

Clean your mirrors with vinegar and wipe with newspaper - the newspaper will leave them streak free.

When we wash the cars, we use newspaper to dry the windows. Works like a charm.

I keep my celery fresh a lot longer by wrapping it in aluminum foil. And of course reusing the foil as long as I can

Coffee filters also work great for cleaning windows. No streaks, and no lint

Mix amonia & water in an old spray bottle as an inexpensive
but good surface cleaner. Alot cheaper than 409 etc!

If you have a strong smell in your kitchen (i.e. from cooking
fried foods etc), place a cotton ball in a bowl & soak w/ Vanilla
Extract.........the food smell will be gone in a few hours!
