An old antique school desk..one of those with the ink well hole..we use as a night stand in our bedroom.
I use a pretty milk glass flower pot as a toothbrush holder in the bathroom.
An old glass whiskey jar we use to keep pennies in.
An old tub is a flower pot outside now.
An old coal bucket is also a flower pot with a cactus in it.
I use baskets for various things...toilet paper, magazines.
Old coffee jars for nails and screws.
Old medicine bottles for beads and small screws.
Old shoe boxes I covered and use to store my craft things, cards, ribbons, lace etc.
Plastic ice trays used for jewelry in my dd's drawers. They are stackable and work great.
Grocery bags are recycled into trash bags.
I don't have it now but I took a plastic bird bath and painted it to look like stone...put a glass table round on top and used it for a night stand in my dd's room.
I have a butter churn that is decorative but I also store extra doilies, napkins and things like that inside.
I took and old metal milk can and painted it and have it in the kitchen using it to store extra grocery bags in it that I recycle.
I have a plastic garbage can with a lid on the back porch that I keep a trash bag in and toss in our aluminum cans that we sale.
In my basement we put the front of an old upright piano on the wall and added hooks and use it as a coat rack.
We have an old metal rack that dh drug home from work that was no longer in use and put it inside an outbuilding to use for storage of plastic, tarps, etc.
Dh also drug home an old wood display that handles use to be kept in and hung it on the wall of the out building and put our rakes, shovels etc. in it. It was perfect.
I have a wooden tray used to carry things for those sick in bed and I keep my computer paper in it.
I have a decorative popcorn tin that I keep little doodads in so they don't get lost.
I have a pretty decorative wood trash can that I keep my toilet brush, dustbuster and things like that in in the bathroom.

I forgot about the desk, thanks heartofmine, I have an old school desk (flat top style with a cubby underneath) that I have my 2nd hand piece of marble (came from a counter/cabinet of some kind, it was a gift from someone redoing their kitchen, on it and my food processor on top of that.
Also, bicycle and other baskets:
Two small metal bicycle baskets hang on the metal retail grid in my kitchen. These hold my immediate supply of onions and potatoes.
In the pantry there are metal/rattan trash cans hanging from drawer pulls that hold my back up supply. Recycled grocery bags are in an old woven rattan bicycle basket. (It was at the dump, with a lining. I removed the lining and hung it on the pantry door.)
Then there's the photo equipment: bulk development tanks are used for shelf supports, to hold containers (see my kitchen counter pics). Bulk film reel holders are used to hold DH's water bottles.

If you're really mad at him, it could mean "Richard Cranium!"
Back to the OP:
When I was a kid, my parents had a very nice set of wine glasses. They must have been a gift from someone who didn't know them well as my parents did not drink wine. But Mom always used them for jello.
Dh kept baby food jars from dd and has used them for the past 2 decades to store nuts, bolts, and that kind of thing in the garage. Kitty litter buckets make great garden tool caddys and poop-buckets for cleaning up our dogs "gifts." A couple of years ago I received a bath products gift set in a large open purse-like container with a handle. The container now sits on the back of the toilet with extra rolls of t.p. inside. My ancient sewing machine became a tv stand in the computer room.
There may be more but that's all I can think of right now.On 11-22-85 I married the man of my dreams.
On 01-13-89 I gave birth to the love of my life.

I have a old golf caddy, the kind with 2 wheels that hold your golf clubs. I put my garden gloves, and clippers etc in the side pockets and my rake, shovels etc in the cart and I'm ready to garden.

There are some really neat ideas in this thread. I especially like the golf club bag idea

I can't think of anything that we use in a different way here, but I'm sure there's something...I'll need to think about it and reply later

One of those little roll-around things to use at the airport for luggage: We use it to carry out our trashcan to the curb.
Those little foam floatie pads for children to use in swimming pools: We use it to kneel on while gardening.
Gallon jars from restaurants that used to hold pickles, salad dressings, etc: We use them to hold dry pasta. I sponge painted the lids to match kitchen decor.Spiritual:
