I work outside in the sun all day and my skin gets very dry. I rub baby oil in my skin before I dry off from a shower or bath. It helps seal in the moisture and makes my skin super soft. Also I get dry patches on my cheeks just next to my nose. Over the counter hydrocortisone cream clears this right up.

Very dry skin here too. I mix Vaseline Intensive Care Lotion (or Equate brand if I'm being frugal) and Baby Oil Gel, half and half and grease myself down with it. Everyday, year round. Works pretty good. My only complaint is that when we go for long (20 miler) bike rides, the bugs and dirt and dust stick to my legs.

AmLactin lotion is awesome. I have certain areas that are extremely dry due to the diabetes like my feet and toes. This stuff works better than any other lotion I have ever used. It is a bit pricey. Like $15-$20 for a 14 oz bottle. They carry it at most pharmacy/drug stores, but behind the counter. No presciption is needed but you do have to ask the pharmacist for it.

My skin used to get so dry, it cracked and bled. I tried to drink more water and also cut milk out of my diet (cleared up eczema and asthma). I now also take an Omega 3 supplement a few times per week.

I apply vaseline to my feet and wear socks at night to bed. Not very attractive I know, but DH don't mind.

Most of my dry, itchy skin has cleared up simply by using Dove lotion daily. I was amazed... no other inexpensive lotions have worked this well for me.
For my feet, I use vaseline whenever I'm wearing cotton socks. That works if I remember to do it all the time... otherwise, my feet end up dry and cracked.
I also learned NOT to use some of the fancy scented brands, such as Bath and Body Works. Apparently a lot of people (I work with lots of nurses) have noticed that the amount of alcohol in these lotions actually makes their skin more dry after use... after I heard that, I paid attention and realized that that was true for me, too, so I stopped using it.

I use Bath & Body Works Body Cream vs their lotion and it does wonders on my hands, elbows and feet. If my feet are really cracked I use Zim's Crack cream or Glysomed. Petroleum Jelly on my heels at night with the white socks works too. I have patches of dry skin on my face and I find that Ponds Dry Skin Cream works best on my face along with exfoliating with a face cloth every other day.

A good home-made body scrub....baby oil and sugar, mix it together, rub it all over while in the shower then rinse!

I have very dry skin too, but I just lotion up all over after each shower, even with just a cheap intense moisturizing lotion (like Suave). That and enough water and I'm ok. In the winter I just have to put on more lotion, and get places like my hands and face more often.

Walmart has an Equate brand cream that is "comparable to Eucerin cream". In a tub. It is $5 something and the Eucerin is $12 +. It is great in the winter when I'm really dry, or on really dry areas. The Equate equivalent of Jergens is good for the rest of the year.
