Handmade gifts for teenagers & adults
I need some ideas for Christmas presents that I can make for the teenagers and adults in our household. My skills are crocheting, knitting, cross stitching, jewelry making quilting/sewing.
The recipients are:
1 husband - age 46
2 sons - ages 21 & 20
1 daughter age 18
so far, the only ideas that I have been able to come up with are knitted socks, handkercheifs for the boys, a small bag to put dh's gaming pieces in..............anyone else have any ideas what else I can make????
why is this age group so difficult to come up with ideas for?? the younger kids are easy

fleece scarves (generally good for just about anyone, just pick fleece in colors/prints that suit the recipient)
game boards and pieces (checker boards, tic-tac-toe boards, etc) Can be crocheted, sewn or wood and painted
Rice bags - cloth bags filled with rice to put on microwave or freezer for ache and pain relief
I make soft jewelry for my dd (who will be 18 in a few weeks) quilted chokers, crocheted necklaces and pendants, etc.

~Here are some ideas...
Hubby: My DH doesn't like 'stuff'(unless it's video games!) so I try to plan an experience for him. This year we went on a wine-buying daytrip using money I made at my yard sale. I know he'd appreciate something as small as being allowed to watch one of his teams play without being asked to do anything, with some pizza and hot wings thrown in.
Sons: Custom t-shirts. Transfer paper is available at many stores. VERY easy to do. Blank tees run about $2.50 each at craft stores here. I've made about 20 for the men in my life and they've all been appreciated and worn!
Daughter: How about a small zippered pouch that attaches to her keychain? My sis has carried one of these for years and loves it. Just big enough to carry her license and a few dollars and chapstick.~Constance

Does hubby wear ties? You could knit a tie or make a tie tack with your jewelry skills.
Dd, what about some wristlets (fingerless gloves) or a knitted & felted purse.

1 husband - age 46 - I used a coffee can for hubby one year for our anniv. I decorated the can and filled it with slips of papers telling him reasons I loved him. I also put a package of Hershey kisses inside.
2 sons - ages 21 & 20- buy a cheap Day Planner and fabric cover it with fabrics they would love.
1 daughter age 18 - Ankle bracelets are hot this year if you can make that.

How about sewing a jewelry pouch and putting a nice necklace or bracelet inside?

Draw string or elastic waist pajama pants. I have made them out of old gently used sheets that were no longer needed.
Bed throws, I know my girls 20 and 22 love them. I don't really quilt but I can strip quilt. Quick, easy, and not so fussy.
Tote bags made out of just about anything.
A sewn CD holder
Is your dd wearing those head band/scarf things? I know both of my dd's are. In fact someone here made them and posted pics. I don't remember who but maybe they will come forward. They were really pretty.
I liked the t-shirt idea. I think I might buy team logo patches and stitch them on the shirt pocket for my Dh and son in law this year. I know they would like them.
How about food? I made DD#2 her favorite snack of carmel popcorn last year and my DH puppy chow one year.

I also make most of my christmas gifts myself this year. In Finland we have a long and sometimes very cold winter, so most of my gifts are knitted or crocheted hats, skicaps, scarves, socks, mittens, gloves, wristlets, legwarmers and so on.
I have already made two warm blankets using granny squares for my DH and DS and will be crotcheting another one for my DD.

That's a great idea. I found that knitting hats is much less tedious than scarves ... and, in the U.S., it's cold around Christmastime too.
Here's a pattern I've used before and liked:

what about some homemade bath and beauty products for your dd. if you search the the site, you should find a bunch. i know a lot of recipes have been posted before. my ds (11) has been hinting about for a new afghan. he has one and really likes it so he wants a second one. if you don't have time to make one that would fit their beds, try a throw. they are just as warm and are great for curling up and reading or watching movies

wood bead in a necklace for boys is still in here, same with leather cord and a few wood beads for bracelets.
Sport themed quilts, quillows, throw cushions.
If you sew, flannel pj bottoms. I can't make enough, I use a 2 piece pattern, very quick. Dh appreciates as he's too tall for store bought and flannel always shrinks, so it's even worse. I preshrink for him. My teen likes it because I made something for him.
Anything little and hand made for the girls, make up cases, keychain pouchs.
Tote bags with fun trims, or crocheted lace.
Anything monogrammed.
