Smile Ideas for no spend week!

I will be starting a no spend week for me and my 2 kids starting next Sunday. Has anyone done this? This means no groceries, gas, shopping trips, or going out to eat. What does everyone else include? For example my mom likes to take us to get icecream but she pays...should I count that?

I will be grocery shopping today and getting a little gas today too. So shouldnt need any of that.

Anyone else want to join me? If so Ill start a thread on Sunday! A Summer challange. If it works out im thinking of doing one week a month!Yay!

I think this is a GREAT idea!! I think I'd like to give it a try next week (we have 1/2 loaf of bread and a 1/2 gal of milk...need to go to the store for those...so I couldn't do it this week). I think I'll run it past my Dh when we get home from work...

I would think any spending aside from paying a bill that comes in the mail would count as a no-spend...what do you think?

I wouldn't think that someone else spending $ on you would nix your no-spend time...it's not out of your pocket.

I'll give it a try next week. I'll have to get groceries this weekend and a few other essentials like gas. I'll have to get my mom's bday gift this week but that's no problem. It'll be easy not to spend for a week - I just won't go near a store!! lol... now if only I could keep the hubby from spending I'd be all set. He's not really bad - just gets a 12 pack of beer occasionally. If we need milk or bread (these I consider essential and can't buy too much ahead of time) I'll have him stop on way home from work.

I think I can do this next week - I'll have to call it Friday-Friday though,' cause I have to go out of town again for my mom - who is doing great by the way.

I would not count your mom buying ice cream cones as your "cost". Gifts are just that in my mind, and that is pretty minor anyway.

I think I can do this. I need to quit going to target anyway for all of the good coupons they have now but they expire on sat. So I am in.
I also need to get a bunch of stuff done here before I go back to work on the 13 of August. So if I am home I can get them done.
My husband will probably do this also. He spends no money at work so he should be able to do it too.
We both have gas in the vehicles and I make my own bread so just need to get mink and produce before Sat.

What will you be doing during the week? Staying home and puttering around the house or going to the park and lib.

I will also join for next week. I need to do this. I have got way to complacent about running by the store for this or that and then spending $30 or more.

I can do this starting tomorrow! I have everything that I need. The only place we are going is the library!

Just wondering, how'd you all do on your challenges for your no-spend week?
