tips to get stains out of carpet

There are alot of stains on the carpet in the living room. I just used the last of my carpet cleaner. Is there a frugel and healthy way to get the stains out?

I am not sure what color or kind your carpet is, but I just cleaned an area rug using Oxyclean ( a product I have found a lot of uses for!!). I mixed boiling water, scoop of Oxyclean in a bowl and used an old toothbrush and some elbow grease. Worked well, my rug was beige. Could try it on a small area to make sure will not harm the rug.

Depends on what the stains are but baking soda and vinegar? Try googling some homemade carpet cleaners.

My mil swears by vinegar. Normally she gets the stain when it's fresh, blots it with paper towels to soak up any liquid. Then dabs at it with paper towel soaked in vinegar. But she has used it for old stains that she finds as well, and it seem to work for her.
