Makeup Savings...
When I was (briefly) a theater make up major in college, I learne the cheapest makeup remover: Crisco. No perfumes, no additives, etc.
Also, in the book Wash Your Face, the author says that the cheapest hand cream is vaseline.
There's also a place (I'll look up the link.) that sells a tub of concentrated cream lotion, etc. no scents, no fuss, etc.

Very cool tip!
Back in the day (prior to anything about sun damage, SPF, & such) my friends & I used Crisco and baby oil to
tan with!
I cant remember the last time I bought shortening! All that talk about it being a heart attach cause and all.
Glad to see it put to better use. I love the idea of using it as makeup remover!

The most frugal way to deal with make up... is to not wear it! I haven't worn makeup in years, and then only once a year or so.

Foundation is one of the biggest wastes of make-up money for many, many women. Just a bit of concealer is all that's needed for most. Derma Blend (available at better department stores) is the most economical, since it's so highly pigmented that you only need a very tiny bit...one small jar lasts me two years...I transfer a small portion into a tiny jar and keep the rest fresh in the back of my fridge. It only needs to be applied to uneven areas or dark circles. That's more than enough face makeup for most women, along with a bit of powder (even baby powder if you've got good skin) to set it. If you try the Derma Blend, don't go for their expensive setting powder. Just use any brand of face powder you like or even baby powder. (Rimmel is very inexpensive, and makes an excellent face powder that gives a very smooth, very flawless look.) It amazes me that foundation is marketed to young women that probably have perfectly good skin. On older skin, it often makes the skin look worse, as it settles into wrinkles. Nope, just cover the bits that need a little coverage, and let your real skin glow. A lifetime of sunscreen will prevent you from ever needing any more than that.

Just for the sake of adding it, a great thing to help with acne is using honey on your face. It's naturally anti-bacterial and works wonders. If you've never used it before you will break out a little bad for a day or so (because of getting the toxins out of your face, just like with any acne treatment) but then it clears up amazingly. I've found that doing that mixed with not using a liquid foundation (or any at all if you can help it) is so great for your skin.
(and if anyone uses it, just wanted to add in that it's normal for your face to be a little red after washing it off because of the acidity, but it goes away quickly)
