    Default Well, I used to

drink a lot of Snappy Tom (like spicy V8) it seemed to help, but it always gave me diaharra the last day of the cold! It's a super dose of Vitamin C, both the chilis and the tomatoes have a lot. But taking a vitamin C and drinking water is easier! No making myself miserable one way to replace the other!

    DH swears by Cold-Eeze.

    Good luck!

I take chopped raw garlic. In Russia, I understand that raw garlic is used in place of antibiotics. It is very effective and powerful for lots of illnesses. Please Google and read about garlic.

This works for me every time:

Make a soup with 1 large can chicken broth (NOT low sodium), 2 chopped onions (yellow preferred, medium to large), and three tablespoons of chopped garlic (I use the jarred stuff), and pepper to taste - as much as you can handle. Cook until onions are mushy. Eat nothing but this for a whole day. You can strain the liquid out and add more liquid to keep it going all day.

I swear, this knocks a cold out in three or four days.

A friend of mine made a 'tea' of peeled and finely chopped ginger and minced garlic cloves. Tastes horrible, but sure makes the throat feel good. You can add a little bit of honey (or sugar) if needed.

Some people say taking zinc lozenges helps.

When I feel like a cold is coming on, I take a warm, steamy shower, put on warm jammies, and go to bed early. It seems to help.

Start taking a vitamin C pill everyday, and it will help you to avoid colds by boosting your immune system!

I don't take cough medicines or things like Tylenol. The body's natural defense is to expectorate, so you don't want to suppress it, and a fever is the body's way of burning the sickness away; so you don't want to supress that either.

I do take medicine if I just can't sleep and it's starting to get ridiculous, or I'll take Tylenol if the fever is getting to the danger zone, but generally, I don't treat myself for a cold.

I'm usually over a cold in about 3 days.

I also wait 24 hours before treating my children to give their bodies a chance to fight, and they also are over a cold in 3 or 4 days.
