tips for entertaining guests?
List some ways to lower the cost of entertaining guests. As an example, have a potluck, so everyone brings a dish to pass.

Have them over for breakfast or lunch, then go off and do something together like take a hike or head to a local attraction.
We've had family over, fed them & they helped us with projects like felling trees. We're together, have a good time & get something positive done. In turn we help them. Win-win!~*Darlene*~

If you want to do a vegetable/fruit/cheese tray, make your own! Walmart sells fruit trays for about $12. but for about a third of that, I can make my own that looks a lot better!

Gack, it won't let me edit my previous post! What went over really well at my wedding reception, was doing fruit skewers. Get 4-5 different types of fruit, cut them into small chunks, and put on skewers (shish kabob sticks work well, can get 500 for a buck). It looks really neat, and it is easier for people to just grab a stick or two than trying to scoop fruit.

Instead of renting movies or going to see a movie, play a board game!
The best memories I have with my family includes when we all sit around the table and play video games!McD
