tips for jobs for kids
Whether it's summer jobs or jobs year 'round, what are some paying jobs that kids can do? (btw I know I asked this once before, but can't find the thread)

Mowing or raking lawns. Shoveling snow. Babysitting. Pet walking. Helping to carry in groceries for elderly neighbors.

***DS and DD cut grass for a few people. Their dad loads up the push mower, riding mower, edger, weed eater, blower, gas cans and takes them to their various jobs. They have each house on a schedule whether it is an every two week job, every week job or an on call basis (which are charged more). They know well into November who they will be cutting each week. Around the end of November/first of December grass season will slow down here and everyone goes to a once a month schedule until the first part of March.
Since DH takes them and purchased all equipment (the lawn equipment alone cost around $3000) and needed supplies (gas, garbage bags etc...), he is paid $25 per yard from the kids to help cover these costs and the kids split the rest. DH does supervise them and assists if needed. The least amount they charge per yard is $40 (very small yard) and the prices go up from there.
***They also are pooper scoopers
. They have people they scoop up the dog poop from their yards.
They keep all of the money they make from scooping poop. The only supplies they need for that is the pooper scooper, garbage bags and bag holder. Normally, they charge $10-$20 a yard every two weeks for this service.
***DD has completed the Red Cross CPR course for infants and children and the babysitters course. She babysits (not often) for extra cash as well.
***They are not given allowances anymore and haved to pay for 1/2 of their cell phone costs so working all year on the weekends is something they kind of need to do. They both also like to go out with their friends and they have to pay for that, most times(They normally go out every Friday night, most Saturday nights - when it is not football season
and some Tuesday nights or Thursday nights) I do give in about once a week and pay for their outtings.

My 16 year has helped me with watching the kids. She makes $20.00 a week (usually for 4 hours a day)
I am however this summer, looking into the local vet or one of the local doctors into maybe she can spend a few hours helping them. She wants to be a vet or a doctor or a teacher. So I feel this would be more experience for her. I probably doubt they will pay more than min wage. But that is still okay.
I have also thought about finding her an office that would need just part time help. Again, preparing her for her future. A fall back. My parents made me take all the secretary courses in high school, even though I had other career ideas...
