    Question Keeping white clothes white?

My BF works on cars 24/7. The problem is he wears white wife beaters under his shirts when he does this. I'm tired of buying new ones when I can't get them clean for him to wear under work clothes. I also have trouble getting the socks white again. They aren't horrible but it is a big pet peeve of mine.

Soaking in hot water has always worked for me. I fill up my landry tub with hot water and Biz or Tide and then add my whites. I use an old broom handle to push them down as the water is that hot. Let them soak for a half hour then wash with an extra rinse to get out all the soap. I've also cut back on the amount of soap I use for a normal wash. Found it helped out alot with the dingys.

Why do they have to be sparkly clean UNDER his work clothes? I would haev a pile of these for him JUST to wear under his clothes. Just my 2 cents.

But bleaching works well for my whites..soak socks/wife beaters in it for while..wash with like colors in warm water.

I'd buy him colored beater shirts for working on the cars I buy them and wear them all spring/summer on the farm, much easier than fighting with the laundry, lol

I don't wash any white clothes without bleach. My ex-DH was a mechanic and I worked myself to death on those whites!!

    Good Luck.

Castrol makes a de-greaser product that is wonderful for greasy work clothes. I buy it by the gallon at wal-mart. It is in a purple anti-freeze looking bottle but it is very concentrated so it lasts a long time.

Murphy's oil soap is good for greasy clothes.

I love oxi-clean. It is great for so many things. If you have a large tub you can probably pre-soak his clothes before you wash them.

I also like to fill my tub with hot water and some oxi-clean. Then I just put my vynle (sp?) blinds in it and the dirt and grime literally comes right off.

    Good luck.

I was going to suggest oxyclean too. I love it. I usually soak, stained items in it and it almost always comes out.

I soak ds's pit stained t-shirts in it and they are usually clean.

I use that orange smelling hand cleaner that my dh uses in the garage for his clothes. It gets the grease out great!
