Default What to do with stale peanuts?

I have a large bag of peanuts that are too rubbery to eat. They are still in the shell...i can't remember if they are salted or not. I didn't know if i should just scatter them as they are in the yard for birds or what to do with them.

Any suggestions? I'm really not interested in anything labor intensive like homemade peanut butter.

    Thanks, April

What about peanut brittle? I have never made it, so I don't know how hard it is to do, but I would think you might not notice that they are stale that way? Or chop them and throw them in some chocolate chip cookies. If they cookies are chewy, you won't notice mushy peanuts!

Id say the birds/squirrels (rogue deer in my neighborhood) would love those.

Yep, I agree, feed the critters. It will be a welcome treat since food is in short supply in the winter.

I thought I was the only one who called them "tree rats"! ROFLLL I vote to give them to the critters as well.

Now that is a good idea, (thanks for the giggle this morning) . I vote for the birds too in the unlikely event that you don't find the pet elephant .

I always wanted one but hubby said if it dies I have to dig the hole, by hand. SOOOOO no elephant coming here any time soon

And yep, squirrels are tree rats, and just had someone the other day call muskrats "water rabbits" lol.

Outdoor critters will LOVE your peanuts, especially this time of year if it's cold where you are.
