    Default storage tips?

Has anyone placed items in temporary storage before? Any tips?

Do you mean like Rubbermaid containers? Or like a renting a storage unit?

I'm thinking she's talking about rental units Missy.

My parents used to run a compound of stg. rentals. My best advice would be to get renters insurance. It's not expensive but theives do sometimes get into these things and your possessions are not covered by the owner's insurance. Also, don't miss a payment. They have the right to seize your possessions as part of the signed rental agreement.

If you are talking about storage rentals use a door inside the building. Not a unit with the door on the outside. Check your unit periodically to be sure everything is ok. Keep all records of payments.

Other than what has already been mentioned above, plan on bombing your rental unit for roaches before you bring what ever you are storing there back into your home.

Check your unit after the first big rain and make sure there are no leaks.

That's a good one. I'll add to that and say that people might want to consider using pallets or plastic totes on the bottom and stack regular cardboard boxes of items on top.
