    Default Blood stains on clothing

If you pour hydrogen peroxide (the first aid stuff) on bloodstained clothing, it does some kind of crazy reaction and clears up the spot. I do this on stains that have gone through the laundry without anyone telling me first, so they didn't get soaked and have been set in. I usually have to treat a couple times and run through an extra wash, but it does do a remarkable job (and it's neat to watch).

So far it hasn't ruined any clothes, and doesn't seem to affect the dye or the fibers. But everything I've used it on would have been tossed anyway if it didn't work.

I've used hydrogen peroxide too, and it works great. And it's cheap---I get it for 50 cents a bottle at the dollar store.

I love to use hydrogen peroxide for treating stains. Earlier this year I found it on sale for 4 for one dollar.

I love the way this works on clothing. It didn't work on carpeting though, it removed the bloodstain and the color!

Will have to try this next time ds has a nose bleed and doesn't tell me (he gets it all over the sheets and I don't find it til the end of the week when I wash the sheets!!!).
I never put any products on fresh blood stains, only wash in cold water first as the hot water will set the stain (hot water sets all protein based stains). If I get the blood straight away I have no problems. it's only when I find it days later that I have trouble.

FYI for blood stains on carpet, salt water is amazing. My mom fell and cut herself last year and I remembered looking at their carpet thinking they would have to replace it. It came out in just a few minutes scrubbing with salt water. I was amazed .

I use a spray bottle with 4oz rubbing alcohol, 4 oz peroxide, 2oz Dawn and 2oz water. I think I got the recipe here. It works extremely well and so far no dye problems. It probably depends alot on the fiber and type of dye used. Maybe try a small amount in a concealed place first?
