when is the best time to buy
a snow blower? DH just came in from snow blowing and ours is pretty much shot. He's going to try and keep it going for the rest of the winter.
Does anyone know when the best time to buy would be? I'm thinking Spring or early Summer, but I'm not positive.
Any info is greatly appreciated!Tia jeanDH, Brad

I don't know about the timing, spring is a time to start looking.
Is it worth seeing about having it fixed or overhauled??

where i live it's right after the snowy season... usually sometime in March when the winter equipment goes on sale. i'd say by the end of this month start checking ads for sales and maybe a few stores you know have 'em!

I just saw some on sale at our local Home Depot so I would say now is the time to start looking. Good luck.

Thanks all. I appreciate the responses. DH is a mechanic and has been overhauling and fixing this thing for years. It's just about that time that it needs to be retired and a new one bought. I'll keep an eye out now and hopefully when we get that check from Mr President, it can be used wisely. (Dang it though! I wanted to put it towards bills!).

On a more positive note and a huge money saver!!!!!!!
DH did a trade with his brother. A bowflex he bought before we got together and used about 10 times doesn't fit anywhere in our house, except a corner in the basement, due to it's height (yes we have 6 foot ceilings! Luckily we are all under 6' in the house!)
Well, his brother took the bow flex as an even trade for his snow blower that is a 2005 and has been in storage for a year (snow blower was their mother's and she gave it to DH's brother as he was going to buy a house... He never bought the house and has been in an apartment this whole time with no further intentions of buying a house). SO, I get to get rid of the contraption that has been taking up a quarter of my basement AND we resolve the snow blower dilemma! I am SO SO glad we didn't have to buy one as it was going to be one heck of a spend I didn't know how we were going to make!
I, hopefully, will not have to worry about this for another 15 years as DH is emmaculate about his 'toys' and made the last one last 15 years and it was second hand in the first place

The time to buy is now. Keep your eyes open at Home Depot--sometimes you can buy reconditioned ones there really cheap (and you can by an extended service plan for it, too, to keep you covered).

Spring would probably be the best time for a good deal, if you can find any left. There isn't a snow blower left anywhere around here. Also, you could try Craigslist.

Way to go on the trade. I love it when you can trade and both people are happy
